The Countdown To Beaujolais Nouveau Has Begun!!


At one past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, from little villages and towns like Romanèche-Thorins, over a million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey through a sleeping France to Paris for immediate shipment to all parts of the world. Banners proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! "The New Beaujolais has arrived!" One of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the wine world has begun. By the time it is over, over 65 million bottles, nearly half of the region's total annual production, will be distributed and drunk around the world. Friday December 5 Repeal Day The Golden Lion will be joining Americans all across the US in "Celebrating The Freedom". The freedom to have a drink, that is. On December 5, 1933 the 21st Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified, making it an American right to have a drink. Wherever you are, stop by your local pub for a beer or a cocktail. If you are in the area, we will be serving up Prohibition Era classics such as the Sidecar, the Knickerbocker, the Rusty Nail, the Manhattan, the Stinger, and of course good old fashioned gin martinis.
