A Special Night Of Music at The Golden Lion

The Golden Lion is proud to announce a special night of music Thursday March 13.

Beginning at 7pm, the usual acoustic rock format will be replaced by four dynamic acts.

Cadmian:
Cadmian is an ecstatic five-piece rock n' roll band from Palm Coast. Formed in June 2006, Cadmian is a band full of fun, excitement, and originality. They pour everything they have into their music, with hard hitting riffs and catchy, meaningful lyrics! An up and coming band, they have played over 60 shows in the Central Florida area. In the summer of 2007 they recorded their first EP made up of 7 songs! The EP is now for sell online at www.cadmian.bigcartel.com or at any show they play! Now nearing their sophomore year as a band, they plan to keep pushing and fighting the good fight.

David Lane:
The Golden Lion's own David Lane recently returned to Palm Coast from a stay in Nashville, Tennessee (aka Music City USA). David is a crowd favorite as a server AND as an entertainer. His acoustic rock and country style are commanding a growing crowd for his performances. Born with a song in his heart, David Lane is just a short step away from sharing his music and voice with the world.

David's song "Down In Dixie" was recently selected for the Chevrolet Legends Promotional CD.

My Getaway:
My Getaway has been featured in Alternative Press Magazine where they were voted as the number one unsigned band 2007. They have been spotlighted as a Purepick on Purevolume.com, selected to play Van’s Warped Tour 06’ on the Ernie Ball Stage, won the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands online voting contest for 2006, recorded a Billboard Charts “Underground” session, picked to be the BMI artist of the month for October 2007 and are one of the few unsigned bands to receive a sponsorship to Glamour Kills Clothing and Red Bull Energy Drinks.

Nathan Mercado: Nathan plays keyboards and sings in the London-based band Station Road. Station Road is a four-piece rock band specializing in a funk/rock sound influenced by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, & Foo Fighters.

Thursday's Show begins at 7:00pm. For more information about any of the acts, please click the banners above. Hope to see you there!

Two Guys Walk Into A Bar

The Highball

According to legend, American railroad engineers used to raise a ball on a pole if a certain train was running late. "Highball" loosely translates into "a drink in a hurry". What is easier that throwing together Scotch, ice, and water, giving it a quick stir and sipping? Anything less would be a shot or a Scotch on the rocks, ant those aren't cocktails. :-D

Whiskey Highball
1 1/2 oz whiskey
soda water

Fill a highball glass 2/3 up with ice. Pour in whiskey, add soda to balance. Stir and enjoy.

There are some variations and personal preferences to take into account. Tony drinks Scotch highballs but likes it in a "long glass" (Collins glass), only about 2/3 full. So basically, the same amount of club soda in a larger glass.

Want some other highballs? How about a Gin & Tonic? Try an Irish Cooler, which is simply Irish Whiskey and club soda, with a little lemon garnish if you're feeling zippy. A 7&7 is a Seagram's 7 Crown Whisky and 7-Up. A Horse's Neck is a bourbon and ginger ale that is traditionally garnished with an impossibly long spiral-cut lemon peel that reaches from the drink's top down deep to the bottom of the glass. But if you're sitting there trying to have a "drink in a hurry", why the hell are you trying to cut a long lemon twist?

Try an Irish Highball Sunday night at the Lion. Jameson's® and ginger-ale with a regular length lemon twist.

Thanks for reading!
